Essential Dharma Series - 3/16/2011

The Durango Dharma Center is pleased to announce the second session of the 3rd Essential Dharma Series, a program for those who desire a deeper connection to the Dharma within a community of dedicated practitioners. The Essential Dharma Series is open to those who have completed a Beginners Class at the Dharma Center or who have had residential meditation retreat experience.

The first session of the 3rd Essential Dharma Series was completed in the fall of 2010. In this second session we will continue the rich experiential exploration of the Buddha’s seminal teaching, the Four Noble Truths, through Phillip Moffitt’s Dancing With Life: Buddhist Insights for Finding Meaning and Joy in the Face of Suffering. From Ajahn Sumedho’s preface: ”For each of the Four Noble Truths there are three aspects, which form a paradigm of reflection, investigation, and hen ‘insight’ (a profound recognition).” In Dancing With Life, Phillip Moffitt guides us in the penetration of each Noble Truth through these deepening practices of reflection, investigation and insight. In the first session of this 3rd Essential Dharma Series, we covered the First and Second Noble Truths, chapters 1 – 12. In this second session, we will be covering the Third and Fourth Noble Truths, chapters 13 – 22. Each class will feature a combination of reading, didactic teachings, and group interaction.

You may still attend this second session, even if you did not attend the first session. To catch up, please read the chapters (1 – 12) covered in the first session.

Dancing With Life is available at Maria’s Bookshop for a 10% discount; just mention you are taking a Durango Dharma Center class.
