Essential Dharma Series - 2/22/2012

The Durango Dharma Center is pleased to announce the winter session of the 4th Essential Dharma Series, a program for those who desire a deeper connection to the Dharma within a community of dedicated practitioners. The Essential Dharma Series is open to those who have completed a Beginners Class at the Dharma Center or who have had residential meditation retreat experience.
The Noble Eightfold Path: Learning to Awaken in Our Day-To-Day Lives
In this class we will cover the Buddha’s path to awakening that is described so clearly in his foundational teaching on the Noble Eightfold Path. The Noble Eightfold path is the Buddha’s recommended response to the problem of suffering as laid out in the First and Second Noble Truths. The Buddha’s message of awakening is not reserved for monastics only, but can be realized in our everyday lives.
This class will include teachings, readings, guided meditations and other experiential exercises. We will look at the Buddha’s teaching of the Noble Eightfold Path and use that as the basis for an inquiry into how we can awaken in our everyday lives. We will utilize Bhikkhu Bodhi’s excellent book, The Noble Eightfold Path as the main text for the class.
