Giving

“Generosity brings happiness at every stage of its expression. We experience joy in forming the intention to be generous. We experience joy in the actual act of giving something. And we experience joy in remembering the fact that we have given.”

-Buddha

The heart of Buddhist practice is giving.  The Buddha taught his students about giving and kind action long before he would introduce them to meditation practice.  It is through those who have heeded these teachings on dana (the Pali word for generosity) that the teachings have continue down to us from the time of the Buddha.

We have that same opportunity today. Through our generosity, whether that be in the form of kind acts, volunteering or giving of our hard-earned wages, we have an opportunity to ensure that these teachings go forward and are available to those those who are open to them.

The Durango Dharma Center exists because of the generosity of its members.  Like many organizations, we pay monthly rent, utilities, insurance and other operating costs.  In addition, we are glad to be able to offer a level support to our Community Dharma Leaders.

Please consider supporting the Dharma Center through your giving, whether that be through volunteering, regular offering of dana or through our Automatic Giving Program.
