Katherine Barr has been practicing Buddhist Vipassana meditation since 1995. She is a graduate of Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leader Training Program and Dedicated Practitioners Study Program.
Katherine served on the DDC’s Dharma Council from 2000 – early 2017. In her new role as Community Dharma Elder, Katherine will continue to offer dharma talks, occasional daylong retreats, meet with practitioners to discuss their practices, and mentor kalyana mitta groups. Katherine will also continue to guide Sati Sundays. She is, however, relinquishing many of her administrative duties. Also, Katherine served on the DDC’s Board of Directors for many of the past 17 years and she has been a hospice volunteer since 1997.
Over the years, Katherine has attended many silent meditation retreats including two 2-month long retreats and eight 1-month long retreats. Also, Katherine is interested in ecumenical outreach in the greater Durango community, has given talks at local churches and has co-taught ecumenical classes in the Continuing Education Program at Fort Lewis College.
