In a Sangha as vibrant as the Durango Dharma Center (DDC), it is essential that community members adhere to a clear Buddhist code of ethics. This helps assure a solid foundation for maintaining ethical conduct in one’s personal life and spiritual For this reason the Board of Directors (BOD) and Dharma Council recently established a Dharma Ethics and Reconciliation Council (DEAR) to offer support should ethical conflicts arise within our Sangha.
The Council is made up of two DLC teachers, two BOD members and one at-large Sangha member. Council members currently serving three-year terms include: Ross Park, Erin Treat and Bill Ball.
Any Sangha member who wants help dealing with conflicts and grievances that may arise within the DDC community may approach the DEAR Council with an ethical concern. The Council will follow a clearly defined grievance process.
To bring a concern to the attention of the DEAR Council, write to: firstname.lastname@example.org. It is important to note that any alleged illegal or criminal behavior must be reported to appropriate legal authorities and that the Council does not offer legal counsel. For more information regarding the DEAR Council, please contact Ross Park at the email address above or by phone: (970) 799-1382.
