An essential dharma class

 with Maureen Fallon-Cyr

SIX Wednesdays starting jan. 17,  6:00 – 8:00 pm

In his book After Buddhism: Rethinking the Dharma for a Secular Age, author Stephen Batchelor offers a vision of Buddha’s life based in his humanity. By transcending Buddhist dogma and offering the teachings in a secular context, Batchelor brings the dharma fully alive for householders and serious students of Buddhism.

In this class series, we will use an experiential orientation to deepen our understanding of the Buddha's teachings. Through mindfulness, didactic lessons, group exercises and lively discussion, we'll bring the teachings to life and practice ways to bring dharma into our everyday lives.

Participants are asked to purchase the book After Buddhism, which is available at Maria's Bookshop for a 15% discount when you mention you are part of the class. There will be weekly reading assignments as part of our learning together. All levels of practitioners are welcome.

DATES: Wednesdays, January 17 - February 21 from 6:00-8:00 pm

VENUE: Durango Dharma Center, 1800 East 3rd Ave.

COST: Sliding scale $45, $65, $85. Financial assistance is available by contacting Terry Leonard, whose info is below. Your registration fee supports the Durango Dharma Center. Our programs are offered on the basis of dana, a practice of shared (or mutual) generosity that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. At the end of the program, there will be an opportunity to offer a donation to the teacher.
