MEETING THE VICISSITUDES OF LIFE WITH GRACE
A DAYLONG RETREAT WITH NOLIWE ALEXANDER
Sunday, July 8 from 9 am to 4 pm
During this daylong meditation retreat, we will explore how to gather the grace, ease and harmony to live in these turbulent and uncertain times. Faced with rapid change, we are often bound, swayed and upended by the eight worldly winds—gain and loss, fame and disrepute, praise and blame, pleasure and pain. These are conditions that affect even a wise and skillful mind and heart. Throughout this retreat, which will include sitting meditation, walking meditation and wisdom circle discussions, we’ll learn how holding the dual aspects of life with wise view and intention helps us navigate our lives with a tender and aware heart. And with this quality of heart, we deepen our practice and resolve in the world.
Noliwe Alexander has been a student of vipassana meditation for close to 20 years. Throughout this time of deep devotion to the Dharma, Noliwe has become a teacher of various sitting groups around the Bay Area and a facilitator of community workshops, Buddhist meditation daylongs and class series programs. She is a life and business coach, dedicating both her coaching and Dharma practice to the POC, LGBT, at-risk and elder communities. She is a graduate of Spirit Rock's Community Dharma Leader program and completed East Bay Meditation Center’s Commit 2 Dharma program in 2010. Noliwe is currently participating in the Spirit Rock Teacher Training program from 2017-2020. She is also a wisdom keeper and humbled by the presence of her ancestor’s spirit that lives within and walks beside her.
